Nanocomposites for CO2 Adsorption

Clay /rGO hybrids for Environmental Applications with Special Emphasis on Gas and Organic Dye Adsorption.

Recently environmental pollution has been received considerable attention especially due to its gravity of growth and the scientific community much more focused on its remediation. In this work we synthesized novel modified monmorillonite clay with polyphosphoric acid with improved surface area. Its hybrid with reduced graphene oxide also synthesized. Both modified clay as well as its hybrids was good in adsorbing dyes from water and adsorbing carbon dioxide at comparatively low pressure. Thin film composite synthesized using environmentally friendly PVA as matrix which was also showed better dye adsorption capability and carbon dioxide barrier properties.PVA based aerogels, soft adsorbents with three-dimensional (3D) porous network with high specific surface area, large number of pores and less density was also prepared with PVA by freeze drying process. The prepared PVA aerogels can be utilized as pollutant adsorbent as well as a suitable candidate for carbon dioxide adsorption.
