Vijoy K. V. joined Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in 2019 as a doctoral student at the International School of Photonics and the Inter University Centre for Nanomaterials and Devices (IUCND) under the guidance of Dr. Saji K J and Prof. Honey John. As a member of the Honey John Research Group, his research focuses on the development of flexible polymer materials and nanocomposites for triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs).
He recently submitted his Ph.D. thesis titled "Engineering Flexible Elastomeric-Based Triboelectric Nanogenerators for Self-Powered Sensing and Tribotronic Applications."During his research, Vijoy designed and fabricated several high-performance triboelectric impact sensors aimed at applications in sports technology, home security, road safety, and wearable tactile sensing.
Vijoy was honored with the “Distinguished Researcher Award 2023” from CUSAT and received the “Young Scientist Award for Best Oral Presentation” at the 37th Kerala Science Congress. He was also a recipient of the New and Renewable Energy Fellowship from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. His research interests include polymer film fabrication, 2D film fabrication, Thin film transistor, triboelectric energy harvesting, soft electronics, and sustainable material development for wearable, self-powered sensing systems and tribotronics etc.
